A Colorado Springs crew that erects steel buildings
GDL Steel Erectors LLC is based in Colorado Springs. We erect pre-engineered steel buildings on commercial and residential jobs, working with general contractors. Most of our work is in Colorado and the region around it, and the crew travels for larger jobs.
A manufacturer or dealer supplies a pre-engineered building as a package of parts with drawings. The erection crew puts it together on site: the main frames go onto the anchor bolts, then the purlins, girts and bracing, then the roof and wall panels, trim and doors. The crew is led by a steel erector who has been in the trade since age 17.

What is a pre-engineered steel building?
A steel building designed and made by a manufacturer as a complete system: the main frames, the secondary framing, the roof and wall panels, and the trim. It ships with drawings and is bolted together on site. Because it’s engineered for one building and one site, the parts are made to fit that building.
What kinds of steel buildings does GDL work on?
Commercial and industrial steel buildings; residential shops, garages and barndominium shells; and agricultural buildings such as barns, and hay and equipment storage. GDL also repairs existing steel buildings and their roofs.
Where does GDL work?
Colorado Springs and the Front Range first, and the crew travels for larger jobs. Recent commercial jobs were in Littleton and Glade Park, Colorado; near Delta, Utah; in Pahrump, Nevada; and near Mullen, Nebraska.
